Does Alienware M17X support a digital audio output (optic or coax)?
I bought a M17X last week. I would like to use my DAC & Amp before my headphone to achieve best performance.
I tried to insert an optical fiber in to the headphone out as I did on my old laptop, but it does not work.
Could anyone tell me whether a digital output is possible over the current hardware of M17X, which is Sound Blaster Recon3Di?
Thank you.

This is a used M17x that came without a manual? You can get documentation here.
That model does not have a digital audio output.except for HDMI audio.
Note that there are other models with similar names such as M17xR2. I only checked out the M17x.
The audio hardware of the M17x is IDT 92HD73C chip. As I understand it Recon3Di is a software enhancement for the IDT audio.

I apologize for giving erroneous information. Please help me and others who might want to know by providing more specific details of where the port is located. Thank you.

Thanks for the reply. Yes the M17xR4 has a s/pdif port. The information I supplied earlier was in answer to your question about the M17x model.

There are 4 similar mic/headphone outs in a row on M17X R4. And one of them is mini-optical SIPDIF.
