GAMES KEEP CRASHING

Hi all.

Don't know where else to ask for help, have submitted  tech support request but no response as yet.

The reason I bought my alienware was soley to play the Total war games and the Sims 3.  However, I cannot play them for longer than an hour at a time because they crash.  Now, the majority of the crashes are caused by an error "mss32.dll", shogun2.dll and the latest ones are ntdll.dll, GameOverlayRenderer.dll & StackHash_82be.  Although I have done some internet research and have had tech support from the game manufacturers forum, I have a. no idea what these errors are and b. what is causing them.

I have been told that this could be anything to do with faulty memory, video memory or sound card problems.  In otherwords, it could be anything.

Now, seing as though I bought this rediculously overpriced "gaming" system to play games, I would like to know why it won't play them without crashing.

Please help, because I'm going completely mental here.

Ok Morblore, thank you, going to look into it properly after I've had some sleep.  Thanks again.

Hi there mate

Yeah, with regards to SEGA, they are not exactly brilliant in the customer care department and just seemed to be palming off any excuse - reality is - they just dont give a...... They are only in it for the money.

I know I may be going on a bit at this point, but how could the registry have been corrupted in the first place?

I don't even know where to start on the Sega stuff. Just pretend you never talked to them.

Failing hardware could cause it or a bad driver or program. Lots of these PC cleaning softwares can do it. Maybe it was just a bad Windows install. If you are not sure on how to reinstall Windows and the write up doesn't help then you could always call Dell and have them walk you through it.

Just make sure it's a fresh install. If the system came to you corrupted and you use a backup image then it too could be corrupted. Start from scratch.

Do what Morblore said ...

If you are going to Clean Install Windows, it would be a good idea to run a full/long HDD Surface Confidence Test while the system is down (before reloading).

It helps to have another working computer (to get files and research) while doing all this.

BAH - still crashing.  Have sent complaint to Dell. Going to try and claim my money back using section 75 of consumer credit Act - had enough of this, my last computer was bad enough, but this takes the biscuit.

Replacement graphics made no difference as expected.
