M17X laptop keyboard ghost input

I just recieved my new alienware laptop yesterday and i seem to have a recurring problem. I did what most people do when they start up a computer after installing the updates. I opened the web browser and typed in a phrase so common it has become second nature to many of us. Google.com.

However much to my surprise i found that my browser did a search for Goog le.c

Even with system restart i seem to have a problem where the spacebar and enter keys are pressed apparently for no reason.

Can anyone help?

Hi Salvadorjer,

Check if the issue persists on the notepad. Open a notepad and then try using the Keyboard. Check if the Space bar is stuck on the keyboard.

Also, check in Safemode with networking.

Follow below mentioned steps to boot into Safemode (Windows 8):

  1. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, tap Settings, and then tap Change PC settings.
  2. (If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, click Settings, and then click Change PC settings.)
  3. Under PC settings, tap or click General.
  4. Under Advanced startup, tap or click Restart now.
  5. On the Choose an option screen, tap or click Troubleshoot.
  6. Tap or click Startup Settings.
  7. Tap or click Restart.
  8. On the Startup Settings screen, choose the startup setting you want.
  9. Sign in to your PC with a user account that has administrator rights

If the issue persists, Kindly private message the service tag so that I can take the case forward.

To send me a Private Message, click my User name, and then click Start Conversation.

Awaiting your response!

I had this issue with one of my M17xR3 laptops, had to get Dell to send a tech over to replace the keyboard, he figured it was something to do with the Keyboard BUS chips, did his magic and it hasn't happened since.

1's resulted in 12's e' in er's volume up toggled up and down at the same time, mute key toggled aleinware command centre at the same time as mute, etc..

might have to call tech support, might be a different issue, but thats what mine was

Got in contact with customer service and after testing that the error no longer occured when using a USB keyboard they are sending someone over to replace the keyboard. If it works ou i'll shut this thread.
