PCI-E 16 Slots on Aurora
I have an Alienware Aurora R1 (X58 chipset). I am running a single EVGA 570GTX graphics card. Does it matter if I have it in the upper or lower PCI-E 16 slot? I just added a Highpoint RocketU 1144A USB 3.0 card and I don't like the way the ports align with the slot hole in the back of the computer. There is a bit of an overlap in the slot that requires forcing the USB cables to assure a good connection. This card does require at least a PCI 4 slot, so I can't use it in the other accessible PCI 1 slot.

You want to keep the video card in the top slot (better cooling I think).
On the USB 3 card ... sometimes you can bend the card's metal a bit or even loosen the screws, adjust the metal-to-board connection, and re-tighten. Be very carefull and don't use the card for leverage.

Yes. x16 v2.0 (v2.0 has twice the bandwidth of the original PCIe x16 v1.0 spec).
You just can't go too crazy with the cards, or you run into other problems in this small Aurora case (power and cooling).

Most boards that are set up for PCI 8x on dual cards has a specific slot for one card. This allows it to run at 16x. If you look closely at the PCI slots, it should say one card here or something similiar. Tesla, are both slots on the X58 16x? I have a 1155 board and I only have one 16x slot. Duals cards would run at 8x each. Just curious as your way more knowledgable then me.

Thanks for the responses. I was able to get things arranged correctly and keep the video card in the top slot. I was already concerned about the cooling issue as it does get pretty tight in the lower level.
