Received your system?

Due to the amount of delays AW is having, I thought it would be a good idea to kind of track the build progress of these systems, or at least have a guess.

Please post your order date, system type (just the model), and your shipping date.

Thank you!

Strange... I didn't get a delay email today (like I normally do on Wednesdays) so I went and checked the status on the webpage it still says "In Production" and my billing and shipping also still say N/A but I noticed my EDD was changed from 2/22 to 2/24 (but remember, I got no email saying it was delayed and instead of delayed a week it's delayed 2 days) call the # and says I'm still in the build stage.  Hmmm.....

Alienware Aurora Desktop
Order Date:  1/13
Original EDD: 2/8
Delay 1: 2/14
Delay 2: 2/22
Delay 3: 2/24
Request to expedite - Refused
Upgrades: from 5-7 day shipping to next business day

~~~~~
I swear I'm going to copy & paste the above in every one of my posts :p  Just makes it easier.
Sad thing is that people who ordered after me got theirs shipped, especially when they tell me it's the processor and video card delaying me (at least that's what they told me).  I think it's weird that when the manager called me yesterday they asked to give them 2 days to find out what's going on with my order and then suddenly my EDD date was pushed back 2 days also.  Normally at this point I would go somewhere else but I used my Dell card and the EPP to get a discount.  Which is why I said I'm giving them until my tax return comes in, cause then I'll have money to go buy it somewhere else.
Remind us of your original order and EDD. LadySaiyajin?
That's really ridiculous. I think if they have more than one or two delays they should figure out which part is causing the delay and give you a free upgrade to the next better available part, expedite and ship the darn thing already. They'd not only save face, save customer relationships, but save current and future orders as well.
My status hasn't changed, but it's still 'early' for me yet. Only 8 days into the order. Still "In Production - Build Stage". However, my billing and ship-to information is correct so maybe that's a good sign for me? No updates, no emails, nothing. Order date 2/9/10 and original EDD of 3/2/10. Now I'm not overly optimistic, though. I probably should have stayed clear of this forum. :(
The same machine at Best Buy off the shelf? Man that'd be a slap in the face if I saw that. Heh. But it does show you what kind of demand they have for these machines if even Best Buy is stocking up on some of these units.
LadySaiyajin,
I am sorry for the frustration you and all of our customers are going through, I am in the same boat! But - keeping my fingers crossed.
I read you didn't receive an email for this last order delay. If this is true, could you please PM me your order number so that I can further investigate this issue - please?
Also, if anyone else has failed to receive an email order delay notification, please PM me your order numbers as well.
Thanks a million everyone!
Lisa
PM also sent. @ LadySaiyajin I was informed of my delay last Wednesday morning as well.  It was only my first, but now I expect another since it still has edd of 2/23 and shows 7 day delivery.
Hmmm.... here is something new:
The website is saying that the Alienware 19-in-1 Media Card Reader is causing a delay in shipping also, which I got on my system but when I built it it was free (which is the only reason I went ahead and choose it) it's not needed really so I can take that off or swap with with the internal blue tooth (I have blue tooth headsets) if it's what is really causing my delay.
ALIENWARE CUSTOMERS - I HAVE AN ANNOUNCEMENT FOR YOU!
I have recently been monitoring this forum and reading the posts. I see multiple people extremely frustrated, which each and everyone of has the right to be, as you've been waiting on a premium system being delayed time after time.
I do not have a specific answer as to WHY your individual orders are being delayed. However, I am here to offer some assistance. Although THERE ARE NO GUARANTEES, I happen to have someone willing to assist in attempting to EXPEDITE your orders.
I am asking that EACH of you send me a PM with your order number by end of business today and I will submit them the be expedited.
Again, with the shortages there are NO GUARANTEES, but Dell wants to at least try for you. Here's to keeping our fingers crossed.
I wish it were that simple.
The only way to change the order would be to cancel it and re-enter it. This is standard across build-to-order companies.
I played with the ordering system a little just now and this is what I found out.
  • Cosmic Black, Alienware Aurora Chassis w/ 525W power supply option is no longer available AT ALL (Which makes me sad, this is what I ordered.)
  • None of the CPU options changes the estimated delivery date.
  • Only the GTS 240 Graphics card seems to delay your order by 12 days. This is default, so changing this option moves the date UP 12 days.
  • None of the memory options seem to delay things.
  • None of the HDD options seem to delay things.
  • The Media reader option delays your order by 5 days.
So basically that's it. If you avoid the 525 Black Chasis (You have no choice these days), the GTS 240, and the media reader, you MIGHT be ok. I have no idea what DELL does if the are out of the Black Chasis and you've already ordered. I guess they'll just delay you indefinitely without really telling you anything.
Lisa, thanks again for making an effort. I filled out the PM and hit start conversation, but the window then just disapeared. As I am new to this forum, and I really would love to receive this computer, I'm nervous that the PM did not go through?? So I will try once more, please forgive me if I end up double PM'ing.
When you PM on here, is that when the window opens that says START CONVERSATION?
They don't offer 6GB Triple Channel 1067MHz DDR3 anymore AT ALL either, which is on my order.
And my hopes for the media reader is that I was in line before they had a backlog of that item.
This is kind of crazy. I wish i would have read this forum earlier this week before i placed my order. I went with Alienware because i used to hear nothing but great things about their systems. My order was for a Area-51 desktop, nothing to special. Placed 2.15.2010 with an expected delivery date of 03.09.2010. I used to work for a large computer company in manufacturing and that is crazy. We put out desktop's in DAYS.....
I will however pull the plug on this system if it even gets delayed one time which im sure it will. I will however begin looking at another brand just in case.
Anyone with an Area51 can you please PM with your order date and delivery date if possible.
