Received your system?
Due to the amount of delays AW is having, I thought it would be a good idea to kind of track the build progress of these systems, or at least have a guess.
Please post your order date, system type (just the model), and your shipping date.
Thank you!

I totally understand where you are comming from and agree with you. No matter how much I press the CSR they will not tell what part is caausing the delay, they insist nothing is on back order. The only thing I can think of is that they are having a configuration issue, or a parts issue, If it is the later then just tell us so we can swap out the part for something else. At this point it should be a free transaction, (especially if it is an upgrade). Well it is what it is. Live and learn I guess.

I went to bed early last night, but it was finally updated 10pm. Its in TN right now and it should be here today (or it could be delayed).
EDIT: Just arrived in NJ now and it should be here today.

Model: Area-51, SSD, ATI Radeon 5970
Estimated Shipping Date: 12/22/09
No reply to emails sent 12/11 and 12/13, but spent a few hours on the phone yesterday speaking to the polite but unhelpful fellows in India.
Apparently 500 workers were laid off from their largest factory in North Carolina because some government subsidies from 2005 fell through, but due to an unexpected surge in demand because of their recent experiment in marketing and sales using Twitter, the plant will stay open through April 2010 with a skeleton crew of 400 or so. I'm just trying to figure out where these delays are coming from. Unfortunately, they seem to be coinciding with a poor (or just poorly timed) choice on Dell's part to outsource customer service to cut costs. You don't cut workers before the hoildays, even in a recession. You just don't.
It may also be the case that parts distributors are experiencing a similar crunch. I list a few of the custom parts above, in case that's the bottleneck. Will post if my shipping date changes, or (fingers crossed) the system arrives early or on time.
I wonder if the guys over at Origin gaming PC's saw this one coming and jumped ship when they could . . .

Look for your invoice on the website, it will show a tracking # . Also, you can track by your customer order # , TRACK BY REFERENCE NUMBER at fedex.com. Mine had two tracking #'s when I tracked this way, obviously one was bogus, which happened to be the tracking number DELL provided.

I've been thinking about this...
Considering the customer support people cannot - at all - give us any information whatsoever, I have to ask:
What are they for? I mean, what exactly are they supposed to exist for? The website shows EXACTLY the same info that they can tell us.
Dell, honestly just get rid of them and use that money to get our PCs to us when you say you will. I'd rather have no customer support for shipping and simply get the computer I ordered.

Mine doesn't. It shows "Data Temporarily Unavailable" instead.
Maybe it's too soon, the email I received was sent just 5 hours ago.
