Touchpad acting funny. What happened?

For some reason, my mouse touchpad for my Alienware 17x is acting funny. It almost seems like it is incorrectly sensing pressure all the time, so when I use my finger to move the cursor, it does not respond the way I think it would. The 2 physical buttons work perfectly fine. I can't really move the cursor. My brushing my finger across the pad will cause the cursor to kind of move, but only sometimes. Additionally, the single finger scroll functions are not working.

I removed the driver for the Synaptics Touchpad. When the driver was removed, the touchpad worked, but the sensitivity was slow (I expected something like that would occur). The fact that removing the driver made the touchpad more responsive makes me think there's a software issue, but I'm not 100% positive. I reinstalled the driver from the Dell Support page, and it reverted back to the unresponsive cursor.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Sincerely.

Try it with this driver and if the issue persists I would recommend you to perform a system restore to a date before the issue started.
