Alienware 15 R2 screen discoloration
I purchased an Alienware 15 R2 and noticed that the screen has a yellowish tint to it, mostly on the left hand side. I have tried to adjust it but seems like that doesn't help. Is this a common issue with the R2 models?

Hi,
No, it does not sound like a common issue. Can you try connecting an external monitor to confirm if you see the same type of discoloration on the external display?

It was fine connecting it to an external monitor when I tried. Reading more about it, there seems to be other people affected as well. Couldn't figure it out so I plan on getting the earlier model that came out this year.Screen was perfect then. Not sure why dell decided to switch up the displays.

I have also purchased Alienware 15 and facing the same issue. Display is having an yellowish tint and less bright. When connecting to an external monitor there is no issue.

It is a known problem on other forums with the R2. Not sure why they went with a lower quality monitor.

It is a known problem with the 15 R2s..
Luckily I went 17 R3 4k no issues : )
whites are whites and everything is the color they should be
makes me wonder at times how much worth it the laptop is and won't have a problem allocating $175 for 11 months
was thinking why get it when I can get 6 new laptops or get 1 paid off in 6 months because every night I use it, it's the reason why it matters

I originally owned the R1 back in early 2015 and had to say it was a beautiful screen/laptop. The R2 model I purchased, was from the alienware re seller on their Amazon page. Another thing that bothered me, was that didn't their warranty's are completely different than if you were to purchase it from the dell website. Maybe they changed the standard warranty or something but the only option to repair it, if it needed a warranty repair was to mail it in. lol.
My 2014 $700 Dell inspiron 15 7000 had a better warranty than the $1200 Alienware! Not to mention when I issued the return, and tried to reset everything back to factory, the *** Recovery partition wasn't even installed....the laptop was sold AS NEW! LOL. *** dell! Maybe most people wont notice things like the screen issue( or not care enough to return it), but I definitely pick up on it..I would love to have the Alienware 17 R3 but just can't afford it right now. Hoping I can find an R1 that was well taken care of. Either that or Dell starts putting decent screens back in the base model Alienware like they did with the model that came out early 2015 :p

the 4k igzo ... you cannot find that anywhere else
they have a used Alien 17 R3 with 128GB SSD + 1TB with 4K IGZO 970m on bestbuy for $1533
was tempted to pick it up but decided 980M 17 R3 4k then put 950 pro in and it's 100% worth it

The 4K/980M model definitely sounds more tempting. I'll check the full specs out on that one. Thanks Ant!
