13 R2, Battery replacement not recognized
Hi any help would be appreciated, I am very disappointed. I purchased a replacement battery from laptopparts.ca I spent the extra money to get an "official" (OEM) exactly the same as the battery that shipped with this laptop. I opened it and looked the battery over and it looked great. I then spent the most stressful 4 hour tearing this laptop apart to get at the battery and installed the new one and put it back together. I then powered it on and everything works great except this battery. Says it is not official dell and is not supported?!?! In the task bar says 225% available, plugged in. When I start the machine it warn me that this battery is not right. I dont know what to do
1x ( 3V806 ) New Genuine Dell Alienware Echo 13 QHD ALW13ED Battery 3V806 N1WM4 62N2T for $139.99 each
everything about this battery looks legit. Even if it wasn't, why cant we put 3rd party battery's in? Either way is there a fix for this that doesn't involve a fraking screwdriver?
Thank you

Hi Crev W when replacement battery delivered, look at the white label to check that it says DP/N N1WM4 or 3V806 (not both as in vendors description for 51Wh), and beneath the square matrix the Year/Month date should be less than 6 months old. Compare the weight of replacement battery to your original, if not similar weight, replacement could be an empty shell.
The Dell system checks to see if the battery is safe to use and that it will not destroy your laptop. Please see if you can create a Battery Report to identify the problem. This can then be used as evidence that there is a problem, such as battery has already been used and is at end of life. When task bar says 225% available, it usually means that the battery is supplying zero power and is dead.
Then reject this battery and ask for full refund. A legitimate vendor will accept your request.
Laptops without a battery, are designed to function as Desktop with ac adapter plugged in. There is a safety hazard with swollen lithium-ion batteries. Recommend, remove and store this faulty battery in an external safe place away from people.

@AdrianG001 You advocate removing the ac adapter and disconnecting the battery. How is it possible to Boot 13 R2 without any power?

Have you tried this?: Completely power down the laptop and remove the cord from the computer. ... Power on the computer without the battery, allowing it to boot completely. Completely power the computer down and remove the cord once again. Reinstall the battery, plug in the power adapter and re-boot the computer.

Thank you, unfortuantly I think your right and the battery is just garbage. Its weird however that the support assist doesn't find anything wrong with it? When you click on the baterry icon in the taskbar it says 100% charged, when you hover over the icon it says 255% plugged in. Anyway, before I put it in I did a side by side comparison and every sticker looked nearly identical. (I failed to check dates) I had no doubts though. Unfortunately when I generate the battery report it brings up the old battery. I've just disconnected the battery (It runs with out a battery) and will have to eat the $140 I don't know how familiar you are with the Alienware 13 R2 but to replace the battery pretty much involves a complete tear down. I nearly broke the pin connector on the wifi card during that first swap. If I had a way to check the battery before installing it I would have, I made an assumption that the battery would be good to go. Guess I should have spent the money on a monitor instead. Thanks again, for your time. For some reason I can't give you kudos and say your suggestion solved it. But I do think ultimately they shipped me a dead battery.

Hi Crev W olf, it is difficult to find a legitimate vendor. Not getting a Battery Report for the replacement battery is unfortunate. That is a lot of money to write off, so its worth trying to get a refund. Not sure what you have as consumer organisations at your location. IMHO they should be reported, so that other people do not suffer as you have done.
Yes, I do know how difficult it is to replace battery. My Alienware 17 R5 is very expensive for a mundane laptop and should not have the Alienware tag. The 17 R5 extended Dell warranty is worthless. This is my first and last purchase from Dell.

Hi Crev W olf the item supplied has a fault, so there is not restocking or shipping fee reduction. The vendor's internal quality control system should have determined that this item is never sent to you. In these circumstances, the vendor is now legally obliged to arrange and pay for the courier service to get their battery back and to give you a full refund (or contact your credit card company and get full refund). If you retain this battery, you will suffer further costs for its safe disposal. So tell the vendor why it is being Rejected and your remedy. Retain your (email) communication as evidence, you might need it if vendor plays hardball.
FYI this post is being sent from my ASUS laptop with no battery. But the battery icon says 255% available (plugged in) when there is no battery. Windows 10 battery message is clear, if its interpretation is understood.

I have emailed to see what they say about a refund. The webpage indicated they do offer some sort of a refund less shipping and a restocking fee... I might just get it out anyway as you recommended. The old original battery was still charging to 50% of its design capacity, so I could put that back in, but will probably just leave it out and start looking for a used monitor. It is very frustrating how deep the battery is. Felt a little sick to my stomach going in there. This laptop served me well though, but next time Ill probably look elsewhere as well.
Thanks again
