15 R3, motherboard MK-BL cable replacement?

The clip at the end of the ribbon MK-BL cable broke while I was unplugging the battery. Is there a replacement part available?

Thanks in advance!

Hi @Ghekiere  welcome to this user to user forum.

Thank you for providing the MK-BL cable and its connector image. This type of connector is known as a Flexible Printed Circuit (FPC) stuffer type actuator connector. Your image shows that the stuffer actuator has lost its captivation, and has fallen away.

Hopefully, you still have the stuffer actuator to put back into the connector. Put it back in with the cable cut-out facing the cable, lift it approximately 2mm, slide the cable into its opening until its white line has reached the top of the stuffer actuator. Now press the stuffer actuator into the connector so that it secures the cable. Check that the bottom of the stuffer actuator has no appreciable air gap as it sits on the connector. Also check that the cable is captivated.

Hopefully the macro-keys backlight function has been restored.

@crimsom You're the literal best at doing all the hard work in the forums for all these people who have these issues with their laptops. I am not any Admin or Moderator at the least but I really think Dell can appreciate your work and give you a Brand spanking new 17 R5 with an 8950HK and a GTX 1080 OC edition with 32Gb or even 64Gb of RAM. Thank you so much!

Hi @Ghekiere  this side on image shows the (white) stuffer actuator in its open position within the (black) connector. It is usually captivated and this shows its maximum open position.
