15 R4, poor battery life

Hello,

I have an Alienware 15 R4 with the following components: i5 8300HQ, RX570 8GB, 8GB ram, 128GB NVME SSD, 1TB HDD and a 68WHr battery.

The laptop works fine when on AC with no issues. What I have noticed is that when I unplug the AC and change to battery life, I can't get more than an hour of use from it. Doing some googling I don't think this is normal.

At this stage, I haven't looked into it any further. Does anyone have any ideas whether or not this is expected, or something might be wrong?

Appreciate your help.

Hi @eBrumby   Dell says for the typical user, noticeable reduction in battery run time generally will be observed after 18 to 24 months. For a power user, reduction in battery run time generally may be experienced within 18 months. Dell recommend buying a new OEM laptop battery when the run time does not meet your needs.

Get the Windows 10 Battery Report to see if the battery is near to the end of its life.

If battery swollen, safely remove it and dispose it. It is both a safety hazard to you and a physical hazard to the system.

I've realised I didn't clarify. This happens when web browsing with brightness low, lightning turned off and power saver applied.

When I rest my laptop the battery lasted for some 3 hours but after few days it went back to normal and it is giving me only one hour. I think one hour for 55000 mWh is less
