17 R1, Samsung TV, HDMI issue

Hi,

I have been having a connection issue between my Alienware 17 R1 laptop and Samsung UHD TV via HDMI.

When I connect my laptop to the TV, it repeatedly tries to scan for devices, comes up 'no devices found' on TV, TV screen goes black for a moment and then comes up 'no signal' whilst laptop screen flickers with connected/disconnected notification sounds.

As I browse through Display 1 & Display 2 in Advanced display settings I've noticed that the refresh rate in 'Display 2 : Samsung' has dropped to 30hz and I am unable to change resolution or refresh rate on Nvidia control panel as everything is greyed out. I've also tried to change picture size on the TV itself and still no improvements. When I turn off HDMI UHD color via the TV, the connection notification sounds on the laptop stop but the laptop screen still flickers. I've tried a few solutions from online research but gained no results.

I have checked for driver updates (all up to date), checked for updates on the TV (also up to date).
I have tried connecting with the Display adapter disabled which gave me the same result. I have also tried other HDMI ports on the TV as well.

I'm using a 4K Ultra HDTV HDMI 2.0b cable which I used on my old laptop and also PS4 Pro, it worked without a hassle. I have tried to connect my alienware to a little Bush flat screen and also worked without a hassle so it's definitely not the laptops HDMI port or HDMI cable.

Could I get some guidance please?
