17 R4, AMC, mic doesnt work

Question

Hi to all!

I have an alienware 17 R4, I7 6700 and GTX 1070 build.

I´m trying to get it work without any success. I tried all.

I can download the AMC (Alienware Mobile Connect) (or Dell mobile connect). Latest BIOS update. Latest drivers. Latets Windows build. I can connect the phone, receive notifications, make a mirrror, even make a call. I can hear the person in the other side, but he/she can´t.

I check that microphone built in set as default and give permission to the app to use the mic. It´s very weird that when the call is active, I can not see the microphone icon in the tray bar (like steam or discord for example).

So, It seams that the app is not using the mic for some reason.

Any suggest?

I found this same answer in this forum itself: Check the apps sound settings and set the internal mic as default recording device in audio manager. Also, you can try by reinstalling the app.

Hello,

I was facing the same problem and the following steps helped me solve the microphone issue:

I opened Settings -> System -> Sound -> scrolled down to 'Related Settings' and opened 'Sound Control Panel'
In the 'Recordings" tab, look for your default microphone used by your laptop, probably something with the title 'Realtek Audio'. Highlight it, set it as default and apply the changes.

After doing all this my microphone was working during calls.
