17 R4, can't wake with lid closed
Running Windows 10 Home 64-bit
I am trying to configure to be able to wake the laptop without having to open the lid. I recently got a new external monitor and hoping to keep the Alienware plugged in.
I tried plugging in a USB dongle to a wireless keyboard and a wired scroll wheel but no luck.
Configured all the places I could find in the Device Manager to check the box for "Allow this device to wake the computer" as well as updating the BIOS to enable the same functionality.
Found some older posts on this forum and it seems as if this may be by design, but hoping for some possible new options.

I am sorry if i posted it into the wrong place. I am guessing an admin/moderator must have moved it into the correct place as it now looks like it is in the Alienware forum.

Before Dell Technical Support can assist, click the blue DELL-Cares username. Their profile page will appear. On the right click, "Send this user a private message". They will need the private 17 R4 Service Tag.
* What specific external monitor model?
* How is the 17 R4 connecting to the external monitor using which ports and cable?
* Did you test the wireless keyboard/mouse USB WiFi transmitter in BOTH of the 17 R4 USB 3.0 Type-A ports?
