17 R4, Lock ups
Alienware 17 R4 keeps locking up after sitting idle with fans running wide open. Reinstalled windows 10 after formatting both SSD drives I have installed. After several weeks it started doing it again. Plays games great but, after I leave it sit, I come back into my computer room and here the fans running wide open and it is locked up. Also having that memory change error at boot up but, memory checked good.

Hi @jepko01 this is a user to user discussion forum and not Dell Support.
Having undertaken considerable work to renew software, it seems to be an intermittent hardware fault. Check that plug-in accessories are not the source of this problem. If power light is blue, hold down for about one minute to cancel hibernation or sleep mode.
An intermittent problem is not easy to track down. Check that Dell SupportAssist is the most recent version, then run Dell F12 ePSA diagnostic test to see if it reveals a hardware fault. The Windows 10 Reliability Monitor timeline may reveal a persistent critical event if you have date and time of these occurrences, or better still can somehow force this critical event to keep reoccurring.

Hi @jepko01 thank you for sharing update.
When problem occurs, does the power-on button turn blue to say that 17 R4 is either in hibernation or sleep mode?
No SA installed. Is that intentional? Download link has been provided in earlier post.

It look like all the lock up where SA related so, I removed them all for testing. Will see what color the Alien head is at next lock up. Put hitting any keys or shaking the mouse does nothing. I have power set to NEVER turn off. Downloaded and played Shadow Warrior and Dead Space 3 with no problem.

Hi @jepko01 thank you for sharing update.
If ac adapter power insufficient to play power hungry Shadow Warrior and/or Dead Space 3 may have reduced battery charge to less than 10% and system will then automatically enter self protection mode until battery is recharged. Create Windows Battery Report to see if battery charge keeps dropping to low value.

Only problem with that is that it is constantly hook up to power. Every once in a while I will take it off the AC.
