17 R4, Windows 11 compatibility?

My laptop is in the Dell supported list but I get a message that my laptop is not Windows 11 compatible. What gives?

The CPU is one generation older than the earliest (8th gen) that has official Windows 11 support.

Ok. Thanks. I suppose upgrading the CPU is not doable?

Correct.  You can bypass the CPU requirements and install  Windows 11 in unsupported mode -- that will work for as long as Microsoft doesn't enforce the CPU requirements, so it will buy you some time -- but likely not an indefinite amount of time.

@ejn63  I installed Windows 11 using program that bypasses the checks and with SSD drive upgrade runs windows 11 no prob.  I had the Alienware M17 R4.  Did this with several others.  There is a new version of Windows 11 so no idea if Microsoft blocked future upgrades.

@user_9b5c08

This thread subject was Windows 11 on the 2016 17 R4. Your 2021 m17 R4 always had Windows 11 support so not sure how your m17 R4 comment is applicable?
