17 R5, overheating
Hi , i have an Alienware 17 R5 with a 1080 and a I9-8950HK
I have to say this laptop has been aving problems since i bought it .
The thermals are just horrible.
A year ago i repasted it and the temps got better , like waay better .
But recently i tried to use the laptop again, ( i have been using my PC for like half a year, cause i am home again) and well .. idle temps 70c and while gaming 98c
I repasted it again and what i managed to get is still 70c on idle and now its 90c when playing games.
What's funny is that the games don't stutter .
When i got the pc it was normal to see the CPU go into the 90c but not the idle at 70.
I repasted it again and no joke the thermals are almost the same .
What should i do ? I used MX-6 thermal paste, the only thing i didn't change is the thermal pads cause i am not sure what to buy , but i am thinking that won't change the cpu temps.
Both fans work and i do have a laptop stand so the laptop has airflow.
When i repasted it now i also cleaned the fins and ventilators so no cloged vents.
I reinstalled windows and updated every driver, even got the Alienware command center to work.
I tought maybe it was a bitcoin miner and i did some scans, nothing found .

Hello,
The Alienware heats up a lot, With my M17R1 AMD I often exceed 100° in games and at rest it runs between 70/80. I recently got an M18R2 Intel it's exactly the same. I think it's the design that is like that.
