17 R5, P31E, running slow

Hello everyone,

I have a funny question. I just bought used 17 R5 (shipped in November 2018) and everything works fine except it's slow. I also have Predator Helios 700 and when I press on start or my computer it opens instant while the Alienware takes around 3-4s. It's noticably slower and if someone had the same problem and found the solution I would be very grateful if you share that with me.

I tried:
Flashed BIOS
Did a clean install of windows 10 and then windows 11 on SSD, disabled HDD
Updated and installed all drivers and aplications.
Replaced RAM
Replaced HDD with SSD

Investigated if someone else had the same problem and found few people that had problems with laptop running slow, but not exactly the same problem. Also I opened task manager to see if something runs in the background but CPU is on 4-6% use.

Don't know what else to do and it's frustrating to have Alienware and windows on SSD and have to wait 3-5s from click to opening of program.

Does anyone have any suggestions what I can try?

Hello,

Thank you all for quick response.
Problem was in AC adapter as I pluged in my backup AC adapter (liteon 330W). Backup adapter was charging the battery but slowed down entire system for some reason. Anyway, it all went to normal when I plugged in original AC adapter that came with laptop, also I ordered new from Dell service center so I hope this will all be good.

I use two adapters because it's not really "portable" with it's weight of 1,8kg..
So I have one adapter at home and one at work.

Hi @Pozoj  does Alienware 17 R5 OS(C:) boot drive PCIe 3.0 x4 NVMe have GPT partition format, so that BIOS boot list option UEFI enabled?

Yes, it does have UEFI enabled. Windows is installed on M.2 drive that came with laptop.

Is the OS(C:) M.2 card SATA or NVMe?
