17 R5, some keys not working, #3

Hi, This is a duplicate of this error : https://www.dell.com/community/Alienware/17-R5-lights-and-some-keyboard-keys-not-working/td-p/7441888 But since I was not able to respond, I reposted it here. Sometimes, my F3, F12, page up are not working. I have to wait for a long time until it begins to be detected. I checked the Keyboard cable, and it is correctly inserted, so I do not know where I should look. Is there any solution to this ? The old post from @David__B never had any answers...

Try connecting an external Keyboard and typing with that one.

My Alienware 15 R1 had its keyboard keys malfunction, but it was fixed by connecting the external keyboard to it, typing with all the keys and then restarting the computer.

Did you make sure the white line was thoroughly inserted into the flex cable holder?

Hi,

Yeah I checked it, removed it and inserted it again. Same issue. I thought it was the cause since the keys are working for time to time and then not for a moment, and then working again... (and it's always the same same keys)

You may have a keyboard issue that might need to be replaced as it's the same keys that sometimes works.

Hi,

Sorry for the late answer. No, I did not find a solution, therefore I sent my alienware to a repair center, since I had one warranty month left. 

After that, my keys worked, but now the spacebar does not work as expected. I notified them but no answer and my warranty expired, so...

Here in Canada, Dell has a 90 days warranty after repair. Maybe where ever you are it's the same.

If you're still withing those 90 days try contacting theme back.

Ensure both ribbon cable side tabs are correctly seated and white line cannot be seen, for correct captivation in the keyboard's socket on the main board.
