Does it show any sign of life or is it completely dead?
A power drain can sometimes fix an issue like this but it usually means that the motherboard has failed.
Unplug the power adapter and internal battery. Hold the power button down for 30 seconds. Plug it all back in and try again.
Also, if the power adapter light turns off after plugging it into the laptop then that's usually a sign that the motherboard has a short.
