Area-51m, battery is draining

I have noticed lately that battery is draining within 8-10 hours 10%. I leave laptop fully charged for a night and the next morning the battery requires 18-20 minutes to full recharge. It started after I had installed the latest BIOS version 1.8.1.

Is it normal? Am I to get in touch with Dell Support. Laptop is covered by a warranty.

Sounds like normal use. You might want to turn the computer completely off at night if you don't need it.

As you know, the laptop does not need to be fully charged to work fine. In fact using it on battery regularly and recharging only when needed makes the battery last longer. You should not be recharging everyday unless it falls below 40% or so.

Your warranty does not cover the battery after the first year, no matter how long an extended warranty is. Batteries weaken and can fail after about 18-24 months of use.

Playing games two PSUs must be connected all the time,so battery is being recharged itself and is full when I shut down system. I have had my laptop less than 1 year and battery must be covered by warranty within this period.I am just curious whether the other users of this model observe similar draining.

It strange that with previous BIOS I haven't noticed that. I know that this laptop is the most powerful I have ever had,by now. But it is not my first one, so I afraid I cannot agree with you.

One day I'd have to leave my laptop for at least two days. Then I'll revert to the subject.

Many thanks for your reply.

Hi

That's correct for a battery is 1 year but if it's swollen - 3 years !

Subject closed. The battery has been replaced lately by a technician from Dell.

Once again, AN EXCELLENT DELL SUPPORT!

All the best and Happy New Year
