Area-51m R1, Query on Intel UHD 630 Video Card
Hi All,
I have a query on intel 630 internal video card. I have started noticing that the card does not show any activity in task manager. I never observed it before, so cannot say if anything changed recently.
I have already set system graphics card selection setting to adaptive in nvidia control panel global settings.
Not sure if this is an issue or I am missing some system setting.
I have already tried running dell diagnostics and it came as pass, although it does not show what all test were done.
Please let me know what I should try here.

Look at your nividia control panel and see your PhysX configuration and see which is the primary display one: Nvidia or UHD 630.

On many nVidia based notebooks, it is indeed.
The Area 51M is more of a desktop system in a notebook case - the CPU is a desktop processor, and the GSync option requires that the nVidia GPU be hardwired to the display. GSync will not function with Optimus.
Every gaming system that has an nVidia GPU and supports internal GSync is wired this way -- the feature is common to high-end gaming notebooks and workstations (among those, the 51m and competing models from Clevo (aka Sager/Eurocom/AVA/Xotic PC/Falcon Northwest and a host of others that build systems on Clevo whitebook chassis).

Do you think optimus is still used in newer laptops today?

These are hardwired to use only the nVidia GPU for the internal display panel. The integrated GPU is used only for external display (thunderbolt, displayport). This is so that the system can use Gsync, which is mutually exclusive to Optimus (switching graphics) technology.

Thanks for the explanation.
I don't have any issues as such with that. Only thing I was looking for was to switch to internal GPU for mundane tasks like browsing and probably have better battery performance. Other than that, it is not impacting me in any way.
