Hi @x3espresso thank you for including image in your opening post.
There are many reasons why the screen image fails to display correctly.
Screen backlight failure can be ignored because it is a single item for all of the screen, failure would turn the whole screen black.
The screen picture is created by electronic matrix panels, that when merged with one another, the user sees as single image. Integrity of the LED cable and its connections are thereby suspect. Opening and closing the lid could have impaired the function of the LED Cable.
Dell support for Alienware Area-51m is not particularly helpful because it just deals with Removing the Display Assembly (the lid) and reconnection of cables to the mainboard. The Area-51m Display Assembly is also used on Dell G7 17 7790 laptops, but Dell support is also not particularly helpful.
There is a Area-51m Display Assembly database of Dell Part Numbers (DP/N). Dell Alienware Area-51m LCD Screens | Dell Alienware Area-51m Laptop Parts (parts-people.com) If you visit, it will reveal the DP/N for your system.
Did not find YouTube video for Area-51m Display Assembly.
Advocate your first activity is to check LED cable connection with mainboard and carefully reseat this connection.
Please share result. Thank you.

Hi @x3espresso !
I highly recommend that the display has an issue because there is a board inside the display that controls the sides of the display. It seems that the mainboard has an issue inside the display so you only need to replace the display.
