Area-51m R2, is lagging with games
Hello!
Hello!
I have an Alienware Area-51m R2 laptop with a top of the range specs with 64gb/RTX 2080 super. But my laptop is always lagging with games like total war rome II and Assassin Creed. I never had this much lag spikes. Sometimes it'll drop, sometimes it'll go back to normal despite me having 64gb here. Attached are the files of what I have. Drive D should be 1tb, but it isn't yet. It's just every game I'm playing has a lag spike. I've generally had overheating and when Alienware is at cool, it's always lagging like heck. I have no idea why. I have Epic Games, Origin also installed with Star Wars Battlefront II. Happy to share more info

Hi @Medjay123 welcome to this user to user discussion forum. This is not Dell Support.
Dell Support for Alienware Area-51m R2 does not address how this system is used for gaming. But there has been significant online discussion about the Dell BIOS and how upgrades have degraded the system's gaming performance [Example]. Users hope that Dell respond to user feedback, and are disappointed when their Area-51m R2 gaming performance is being throttled [Example].
Many high performance games are designed for desktops and their promise of consistent unlimited power. Laptops rely on their ac adapter(s) and fully charged battery. Checking on their ability to deliver the power requirements for a power hungry game is to comprehend the capabilities of the laptop. Even when all power delivery is fully functional, the battery charge can reduce and result in gaming FPS performance throttling.
There are Area-51m R2 online gaming discussion forums, and you should look for the discussion that matches your problem. Different settings are advocated and installing third party applications can appear to provide a solution.
