Area-51m R2, touchpad click drag

After having solved my first problem with the touchpad on my Area-51m R2, I have another problem with the touchpad. The original problem was that I couldn't use the dedicated touchpad buttons while simultaneously holding down a keyboard key. That was solved by changing a setting in the registry for the PrecisionTouchpad (AAPThreshold).

As with the previous issue, the touchpad is functioning fine on a basic level, i.e. the hardware and software appear to be fine. The touchpad functions fine except for this one issue. I have the latest driver installed, as well as the latest bios.

This particular issue is that when you click and drag, it doesn't register the click for a split second. Which means that you end up starting the drag operation on a different point if you are moving quickly. This causes some problems in games where fast reaction times are necessary. Dragging isn't necessary to see this problem. It really happens that if you are moving the pointer and clicking at the same time, a delay in registering the click is seen. The drag operation is just the most obvious non-gaming way of seeing the problem.

I can demonstrate this in paint. Just click and drag to draw a line. If you click, wait a second, then drag, the line starts from where the pointer was at the beginning of the operation. If you click and drag without waiting, the line will start at some point further along the path (leaving a gap from where the cursor originated and where the click finally registered).

Since there is no sign that the touchpad is working improperly, there must be a setting associated with this. I've tried all the 'timeout' settings in the synaptics registry section and none seem to impact this. Does anyone know what the registry setting controlling this delay is?

Have you tried the latest driver?  Since I've worked on this problem with them they've dropped a new driver that solves all of my issues.

Verify this doesn't happen when using your mouse?

Was it ever working?
