Area-51m R2, update from Alienware Update app FROZEN!
So I have had my Area-51m R2 laptop for roughly 8 months or so. I haven't had many problems with it since I received it. However with the latest update, using the Alienware Update application that comes on it standard just completely froze on the "Restarting" screen. It's just on the blue Restarting screen. Mouse cursor and all is just frozen. I work on a boat and am gone for 28 days at a time, so the first thing I do when I get home is turn my laptop on and begin doing all nessassary updates that has released since I've been gone. Not sure what to do as I don't want to manually power off the pc fearing something messing up because I did that. Please help! This thing was ridiculously expensive and I'm getting worried. Here are my exact pc spec =

Hi @Chaos Spyder from local admin account, please see if Revo Uninstaller Free can list the Alienware update software and use its advanced scan to completely remove everything.

Hi @Chaos Spyder please take and share photograph or record text within "Restarting" screen.
Was BIOS update applied over the internet? If system working, there is no requirement to update the BIOS unless it has a feature you want. Never apply BIOS update over the internet because PC might get bricked. Follow the official Dell/Alienware BIOS update process Update the BIOS on your Alienware PC - YouTube.
Please press the power-on button and allow the Alienware Area-51m R2 to automatically shut down. Wait a few minutes, then press the power-on button, hopefully the update has failed and the normal boot process will get your Alienware Area-51m R2 working again.
Please share an update. Thank you.

Yes, before the tech called I went to the Dell site and just downloaded the most recent BIOS software then installed once it downloaded.
Works just fine now. However I still couldn't get the Alienware update software to even open or run at all after the incident in question.
Dell Tech tried deleting then clean reinstall and cannot reinstall it at all.

Hi @Chaos Spyder please reveal status of Alienware Area-51m R2. For example: Does it POST (Power On Self Test) and give Alien logo splash screen with F2 and F12 options, but then fails to boot into Windows operating system?

Yes. I think that was one of the things it was trying to do. I had a Dell employee tech, remote control my pc last night and he could not even get it taken care of.
The Alienware Update app was completely trashed and could not be opened or used.
He deleted it and tried reinstalling but to no avail. Cannot even reinstall it now. Keeps saying something to the effect of cannot install. Please delete conflicting software before it can install.

WOW! Just, WOW! This actually worked .
Turns out that there were still left over files from the previous version.
I used the Revo software you suggested and BINGO.
Thank you soooo much for this.
The Dell technician couldn't even figure this out.
Again thank you very much!
I am still concerned though as to why it just froze upon restarting after the initial update.
I guess its like you mentioned earlier, that it was doing a BIOS update online instead of downloading and completing manually.
Makes sense because I actually went to Dells' site and did it manually even after the corrupt AWU problem and it updated just fine.
