AW610M, mystery, bug in AWCC?

I bought this AW610M mouse from Alienware. Firmware of the USB-Receiver and the mouse are up to date from the Dell support page.

https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/new-alienware-wired-wireless-gaming-mouse-aw610m/apd/545-bbcc/pc-accessories

In Alienware Command Center and directly in Windows 10 you can choose after which time limit in idle the display would turn off and the computer would go into stand by / sleep mode.

This works perfectly fine when the AW610M is not plugged into any USB Port, no matter if it is connected via cable or USB Bluetooth receiver. Display turn off /Sleep mode will also work with my older Logitech mouse connected via USB Bluetooth receiver.

But when the computer is connected to the AW610M either way, the display will randomly turn off but turn on again after a while (sometimes 2 sec, sometimes several minutes) and the computer will never ever go into sleep mode.

I have tested very many scenarios until now with my current Area-51m R2. I reinstalled Windows and Command Center, I changed timings in AWCC and in Windows directly, I deleted wake rights of the mouse in Windows power management, I deactivated any USB wake acceptance and I even tested this mouse with two more Area-51m R1 and one HP notebook. And everywhere it will install AWCC via Windows Store for mouse setup and these three computer will also never go into standby with the mouse connected.
So I thought maybe the computer thinks I am moving the mouse because the laser might be buggy, why I let it connected but turned it off at the bottom and I can’t believe it: The computers still won’t switch to stand-by.

After disconnecting the USB cable or USB receiver, either way, they will act like expected again. And as I said above, this also works perfectly fine with a Logitech mouse connected.

Is this a problem with this mouse? OR, and that is what I assume, an issue/bug with the Alienware Command Center Software, especially AWCC BackgroundServer, maybe? Because: Wenn I stop the process in Task manager, I won’t be able to adjust Power Settings in Command Center anymore, but the computer will switch into sleep mode even if the Alienware mouse is connected.

I received an update today for AWCC and it fixed the issue with the mouse!  Computer now goes to sleep and monitor shuts off.  That took a while to fix, but glad it finally was done.

* Looks like false alarm *

Still an issue.  The new AWCC was installed, which I then tested the mouse - it worked.  Then going into AWCC I noticed that half of the stuff didn't work.  Can't see any thermal readings or do any overclocking, but the mouse allows the computer to go to sleep.  Nice job Dell!

Definitely still not fixed, mouse waking up monitor preventing sleep. Also, AWCC.Background.Server process just consuming 15% CPU until I open then reclose Alienware Command Center, still not fixed. Very disappointed. ACC version 5.2.100.0

Bummer. Sounds like the only reason it’s working for you is because AWCC is not loading.

im just going to sell the mouse. If anyone reads this. DO NOT BUY THE 610M Mouse. Dell has no idea how to make it work!!! Buyer beware.

Yeah, def not working.  It was working because AWCC was not working correctly, once I uninstalled and reinstalled latest version and got it working, mouse issues returned.

How is this not a priority for them?  I could see if this mouse was a totally different brand, but really Dell?

Has this problem been resolved yet. I Just bought an Aurora R11 and I have updated to latest AWCC driver and the mouse/keyboard driver for the 610M is definitely the culprit. Dell support has been unable to assist. @DELL-Cares

Not fixed. I think Dell is hoping we will all just forget and give up. You options are to throw the 610 mouse away or forget about power management and switch the monitor off manually. Dell seriously dropped the ball on this one.

Just went all in Alienware hardware and having the same issue. Narrowed it down to the 610M mouse - unplugging the USB adapter lets the monitor stay asleep.

Dell, please fix.

Thanks

Pretty sure I tried this combo? What is your monitor and pc sleep time set at? If it’s less than 5 it’s been working. 5 or greater it’s not working. Or if you set the pc so it never sleeps and just set the monitor to sleep it will try over and over but never stays in sleep mode.

I just tried it, I did install the additional driver and I am already on the AWCC version you mentioned... set my balanced power settings to 1 for the monitor and kept the pc at 30. The monitor went into sleep and then came out shortly after. Its cool that its working for you... no dice for me though...

In AWCC: Energy Mode Balanced, Monitor 5 mins, Sleep 30 mins.

It never worked before with this mouse until today. It didn't work until yesterday or today this optional Windows Update appeared.
I checked Windows Update 2 days ago and there was no optional update available, so ist must be pretty new.

Is your mouse wired or in wireless mode? I give up. Not working for me. Aggravating.

Really sad that it obviously not works for everybody....
I use the mouse in wireless mode.
I use it with the Area-51m R2.

After installing all the Windows Updates (also optional ones) and the newest AWCC, I have only one more idea what you could try. Some weeks ago I also installed the newest Firmware for the mouse. You can look up the mouse on the Dell support pages. Maybe the Firmware is old and does not communicate properly with the PC?

Maybe others have more ideas or Dell support might be able to help now?

I went into device manager and found a AWCC driver duplicate with a warning. I removed it and am now also able to get my pc monitor to stay in sleep mode. Going to keep testing. Will know more tonight after work when I have time.

seems positive so far. So if you install the newest windows update under additional drivers and have the latest AWCC app and it’s not working. Check device manager fir warnings.

I’ll follow up tomorrow.

I net the windows optional update is the key. I wish Dell would publish a fix for the 610m with links to required files and steps to install so everyone gets the expected result.
