Having some trouble pricing my Area-51m R1?

Greetings everyone..

Yes I am near computer illiterate, but I've been searching online for used laptops that meet my specifications to find out how much to price my laptop for to sell it.

Alienware Area-51m R1
Intel Core i7-9700 3.00 GHz
16GB ram
GeForce RTX 2060

I've had it for 1 year but it's been sitting powered off under a piece of plastic to avoid dust for most of it and is hardly used whatsoever. It'd be closer to brand new than even slightly used. Closest I found was a site that offered me $1007 which means it must be at least worth a little more to a private sale.

If anyone has a good idea what it's worth I'd be grateful to find out. Thanks!

If you've had it a year, it must be an R1 (the R2 wasn't released until June 2020 so that'd put it at 4 months old, max).

If you check EBay, that configuration seems to be at an asking price of $1750 or so - - which is probably more than the seller will get, but might be a good starting point for an asking price. If you don't have a transferrable warranty to offer a buyer, that will likely reduce your possible selling price.

i actually still have 3 transferrable years left on a 4 year premium warranty so that is a good thing.

also a brand new alienware gear bag with the tags on it still. All original packaging etc.

if any of you are in the market for a slightly used laptop let me know!

Yeah as long as the warranty is transferrable then you should be able to get a good price. Hopefully even more than the Outlet is offering.

I was originally interested in getting a 51M but I was worried that the GPU's would not be truly upgradeable so I waited to see what Dell was going to do. Unfortunately they closed the door on that.

Another good way to check your price is to look on the Dell Outlet site and compare yours to ones that they are selling. Outlet laptops come with a 12 month Dell warranty plus free shipping so you'll have to keep that in mind. If your laptop has no warranty then you are looking at 15-20% less than their asking price.

That being said, many people don't know about the Dell Outlet.
