m15, AWCC issues (FX and Fusion)

I just got this m15 a couple weeks ago and I started getting prompts in my Command Center that there was an update. When I would try to update, it would always fail on trying to install the OC Control, stating that there was already a version of OC control installed. It then recommended that I uninstall the old version to install the new. After some investigation within the forums, I found others stating that I should uninstall and reinstall the command center. I followed all of the steps here:

https://www.dell.com/support/article/ca/en/cadhs1/sln303405/how-to-remove-and-reinstall-the-alienware-command-center?lang=en

Once I did this, everything stopped working as it should. I can't even click on the FX tab now within the command center and when I go to Fusion, nothing loads. It's just circles spinning forever as if they are trying to load the temperatures and whatnot but can't.

I tried to do a system restore to rollback to before these changes, and that didn't work either. It rolled back successfully but the control center was completely broken then - it wouldn't load at all. So I went through the reinstall process once more and that's where I am with it. Has anyone had to deal with this too? It has been a pretty terrible experience to have with a brand new laptop - not sure why the OC control couldn't update properly in the first place.

Still having issues with this on a A51M... FX works, but Fusion, Overlclock Overclock and Thernal Thermal options are still "spinning dotty circles". Uninstalled, stopped service before doing so. Uninstall removes service.

Hi @Boltatron

1. If your AWCC is fully functional, do not update.

2. If you do not need the AWCC (and OC Controls) and it is unstable, delete this troublesome optional application.

3. If you really want AWCC on your computer, then try the following:-

3a. Download the free Revo Uninstaller and use with Advanced scanning mode setting. Run Revo Uninstaller to see if AWCC (and OC Controls) is listed. If yes, uninstall your AWCC, press Scan and when prompted select and delete all files, you might get a second prompt to select and delete more files. You have now removed everything associated with the AWCC. (Repeat to uninstall OC Controls)  After restart, you can clean install the AWCC, as if for the first time.

3b. If the most recent AWCC does not work, install an earlier version. You can get the earlier version by opening your Service Tag Support's page, get AWCC driver information > view full driver details > scroll down and click on Version to select from list of earlier versions.

3c. Then install the most recent OC Controls so that AWCC Fusion tab works.

3d. Do not be surprised if AWCC FX tab does not work. (The AWCC update application requires more work.)

Hi @Linglight  you have a bad install of the AWCC update application. Please try the following:-

Download Revo Uninstaller Free. Run Revo Uninstaller to see if AWCC (and OC Controls) is listed. If yes, double click on AWCC to uninstall. When the uninstall window appears activate the Advanced scanning mode setting. Agree to uninstall AWCC and wait. Then click on Scan and when prompted select and delete all files, you might get a second prompt to select and delete more files. Restart so your system responds to these changes. You have now removed everything associated with the AWCC. (Repeat to remove OC Controls)

After restart, you can clean install the AWCC, as if for the first time. Always download the AWCC update application and then run as administrator.

If the most recent AWCC does not work, install an earlier version. You can get the earlier version by opening your Service Tag Support's page, get AWCC driver information > view full driver details > scroll down and click on Version to select from list of earlier versions.

Then install OC Controls so that AWCC Fusion tab works.

Hope this helps. Kind regards.

Somehow it's still not working. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall it a few times. I can see the Overclock and Thermal keep loading and was unable to change to other tabs.

Hi @Linglight  try the Revo Uninstaller process. If you are still having problems, more detail is required for the Dell Community users to offer their free assistance.

Hi @Linglight  thanks for the AWCC image. If as you say, been trying all possible methods, what is the corresponding Microsoft error code in the event log?

Hi @Linglight  you are not saying anything useful. Guess that AWCC is always trying to install. So did you open Task Manager and right click on AWCC install process to End Task before trying the Revo Uninstaller process?
