Thanks for the advice I never thought about it that way. I assumed that if the update is available on the official program from dell, it should always be installed.

Hi @wlod welcome to this free user to user Alienware laptop discussion forum. This is not Dell Support.
Guess that BIOS update is being installed over the internet. It will now be permanently stuck, and only option is to briefly press power-on button for system to correctly slowly shut down. If power-on button held down, it will force unwanted rapid shut down. But system might only accept forced shut down.
Only if BIOS update essential to get new user feature, open local admin account and download file onto your Alienware m15 R3. To ensure the integrity of your download, please verify the checksum value. Of all the Dell updates, the BIOS update must be undertaken as described within its Installation instructions.

Thanks for the answer. only discharging the battery helped. the button does not respond. Looks like it's all working now. I used the alienware spftware update application, never had such a problem. admits that I panicked. Should I manually install the bios? or check if is installed correctly?

Hi @wlod thank you for sharing update. System must have been really stuck, that required your drastic action, but it worked.
Dell SupportAssist or Update, both install BIOS updates over internet - not recommended. If normal service has resumed, the BIOS update might not have been installed. Despite what Dell says, only update BIOS if you get additional features that you want. Always manually install BIOS updates incrementally, never jump ahead to the most recent. The BIOS update file is small, so it does not contain any of the earlier updates.

Btw it has been stuck for over 7hrs. I went to work when the laptop was updating, and just came back to find it on the same screen.
