m15 R3, compatible with Samsung 980 Pro?
So I recently bought an Alienware m15 R3 and wanted to upgrade the storage and was wondering are they compatible with the new Samsung 980 Pro SSD?
if it matters here are my specs:
- RTX 2070 SUPER
- i7-10750
- 32GB RAM
- 1TB + 1TB SSD(s)
- 300Hz Screen

Yes, but not at full speed.
This SSD is designed for a system with PCIe 4.0. Yours is 3.0 -- you will likely see 32G/s throughput, but the drive is capable of more -- so unless the price delta between the 980 and 970 is small enough (or you want to carry this drive forward to a new AMD system that has PCIe 4.0 support or a future Intel system when these are released; there are none at the moment), there's no advantage over the 970 in your current system.

Ok cool, that's what I thought. So I guess I'll wait until the 970s go on sale. lol
