m15 R3, first week impressions
Okay so my first week has been fantastic! The machine has exceeded my expectation so much I have just sold my 6 year old gaming rig and will replace it with this, The only concern is the thermal heat produced if I’m to use it daily for say 8hrs productivity etc and a few hours gaming as I’m not sure the cpu won’t just fry itself one day as this ting does get hot (slightly). I’ve not yet benchmarked it using thermal monitoring tools but will this week. Design The laptop is sleep and a thing of beauty, the smooth metal feel is lovely too, your fingers just glide over the keys and the chassis, sometimes in a weird way you stroke it (just once just to clarify). The ports seem to be in a nice place, I particularly like the video outputs to the rear instead of the sides. Performance Out the box actually it was disappointing as I longed to sample PC master race gaming, after seeing so much buttery smoothness on display in hundreds of YouTube videos I felt I really needed to experience what it was like! I loaded Shadow of the Tomb raider and linked to my LGC9 and I tested 1080, 1440p, 4K and wasn’t impressed :(. For one I couldn’t get more than 30fps on 1440p, FPS on 1080 was around 60-80 on average settings and 4K was actually getting 60FPS so a mixed bag! Then I contacted technical support, a lovely guy takes control of my machine and adjusts some settings, mainly he went into nvidia control panel 3D settings and switched the power to mad performance, and WOW what a difference! Now I’m gaming 1440p with 180 FPS set on ultra settings with AMDfidelityfx on! What is strange is how I’m getting the frames on my LGC9 as it’s got a max refresh of 120hz so I’m not sure on what’s happening but it is the smoothest thing I’ve experienced! It’s so good I doubt I’ll every console game again, I understand or the first time why people, spend so much on gaming now! I’m buying a laptop stand next to reduce the temp by 10%, I’ve seen the fan versions but it looks like they don’t offer much a difference and blow air back into the machine, maybe not wise. Overall 10/10 GF review -10/10

never buy alienware again as they will force your computer down through update after warranty. I just purchased a $3000 machine and used it less than one year. The computer keeps flashing and freezing randomly after the warranty is gone. I use it normally for internet browsing. Never install a single game. The customer service never replies your message. Worst customer experience ever. I suggest you buy an Apple.
