m15 R3, looking for replacement hinge in Romania
Hi,
My laptop ran out of warranty a year ago, and I am currently in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. I contacted both Dell and Alienware on Twitter, who said that there are no authorized repairers in Romania. Basically a few screws have fallen off the hinge, and the black thing that connects the screen with the laptop, is bent slightly on the left side. I have emailed photos to multiple repair places in Cluj, and this is a typical reply:
"No, improvisations are not allowed because if we glue the screws or cover, it could not hold, and cannot guarantee the fix will last, (not to mention it will make future repairs harder) and we are obliged to give warranty for the work we do.
The problem I had was with finding the part numbers for these specific parts.
I found some part numbers, but they did not have a correspondent on the Dell part database, and if they do not appear there, it means they are not original, and we cant order them (example), as we can only use our certified parts suppliers.
The only way we can install unoriginal parts is if the client brings them, and requests help installing them, and we only bill the labor."
Is there anyway to order parts to Romania? Or do I need to leave the country to fix it? I have photos but I am unsure how to attach them.
Thank you
Anthony

Thank you, I will try now. Dell/Alienware haven't been any help at all yet, I just called their international customer service number who told me that they can't assist, because my support is registered in Ukraine. And changing the support from Ukraine to international support, is complex.

Try Parts-People here. They carry hinges and have a warehouse in Sweden that does ship to Romania.

Hi @ant777uk welcome to this free user-to-user Alienware laptop discussion forum.
Existing hinges should have white labels that say 0DV4MX and 0X68PR.
Search on internet for Dell OEM Alienware m15 R3 R4 Hinge Kit - Left and Right - DP/N DV4MX and X68PR. Hinge Kit should be about $25USD.

Many thanks! They have great customer service.

I already ordered an "Alienware m15 R3 15.6" LCD Lid Back Cover Assembly - XFP33" from Parts People, due to arrive in a week, from Texas. I am unsure if I need a hinge or not, what do you think? Thanks!

Hi @ant777uk thank you for sharing additional information and images.
New Alienware m15 R3 15.6" LCD LCD Back Cover XFP33 (parts-people.com) does not include Hinge Kit DP/N 0DV4MX and 0X68PR. Images do not show condition of hinge.
Your opening post says a few screws have fallen off the hinge, and the black thing that connects the screen with the laptop, is bent slightly on the left side. The black thing looks like the screen bezel is detached and bent slightly, hopefully it should click back into place.
This type of issue is usually only covered by the Dell Repairs for accidental damages option, which can be purchased separately or included in Premium Support Plus.

Thanks! Dell Cares won't really help me, they just put me into a loop...my laptop service is registered in Ukraine, so I must unregister it from Ukraine to be helped by Dell. I already ordered an "Alienware m15 R3 15.6" LCD Lid Back Cover Assembly - XFP33" from Parts People, due to arrive in a week, from Texas. I am unsure if I need a hinge or not, what do you think? Thanks!
