m15 R5, RTX 3070 thermal throttle

Question

Hi!

I have an m15 r5 with the RTX 3070 and Ryzen 9 5900HX. While playing gpu intensive games (the time varies how long it takes to thermal throttle) the power draw of the gpu dips down to around 40w and stays there even if the gpu is already at 60°C it does not go back up.(even in full speed fan profile)

I have to cycle the fan profiles a couple times(hitting F1) or restart the laptop and then it goes back to normal. I recorded the gpu and CPU temperatures and it seems to happen when the gpu hotspot hits 96°C, the CPU also reaches a very high temp (101°C).

I have checked if the fans are dirty but they look brand new not a spec of dust anywhere.

I also tried to undervolt the gpu but it still reaches 96°C on the hotspot.

Any advice to how to fix this issue?

Support for Alienware m15 Ryzen Edition R5 and its Dell GPU-Discrete may not have the full VRAM capabilities on the motherboard.

I don't think that my issue is the same, because in my case the GPU throttles down from 120-130W to 40W and it does not boost back up
