m15 R6, randomly restarting

Hi,

I have an Alienware R15 m15 R6, just a little over 2 months old, and it randomly restarts.  If I am not actively using the laptop, it will restart - sometimes multiple times in a row.  I have also noticed that sometimes after it goes to sleep, it will have a black screen upon re-opening and does not recover unless I restart (holding down the power button.)  I am running Windows 11 running the below:

Hi @AMoltisanti !

I hope I can assist with the issue you are having today.

"I have an Alienware R15, just a little over 2 months old, and it randomly restarts.  If I am not actively using the laptop, it will restart - sometimes multiple times in a row.  I am running Windows 11 running the below:"

I recommend for this issue you run these 3 commands on the command prompt as an administrator:

sfc /scannow

chkdsk /r

chkdsk /f run this command after sfc is ran first and /r.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"I have also noticed that sometimes after it goes to sleep, it will have a black screen upon re-opening and does not recover unless I restart (holding down the power button.)"

The screen being black after turning on is a possible sign of a driver not working properly.

If you can please find out the full name of the laptop without the service tag, then I can link the drivers that could possibly fix your issue.

Let me know if you need any extra help.

Hi Alienware Area-51 ALX 2006!

Thank you for the help, I'm not very savvy with this stuff so I very much appreciate it!  I ran both the check disk and the scannow.  The scannow had found some corrupt files and the check disk went smoothly.

The laptop is an Alienware M15 R6 with the below specs:  Device name DESKTOP-D14D32E
Processor 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-11800H @ 2.30GHz 2.30 GHz
Installed RAM 16.0 GB (15.7 GB usable)
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Pen and touch No pen or touch input is available for this display

Hi @AMoltisanti !

I am so sorry about not fully reading your response to me.

Since I have gotten your fully system name, I can recommend some drivers to fix this issue:

Intel UHD Graphics Driver | Driver Details | Dell US

NVIDIA GeForce RTX Series Graphics Driver | Driver Details | Dell US

Intel HID Event Filter Driver | Driver Details | Dell US

Hi @AMoltisanti !

"This is great, thank you!  I've downloaded a bunch of drivers/updates, updated the BIOS software, and will be running an OS repair if these don't work.  So far I haven't had an unplanned restart since the yesterday, so my fingers are crossed.  Thank you again for all the help, I greatly appreciate it!!"

I am really happy this has happened for you.

Let me know if any other issues occur and my fingers are crossed too!

Hi @AMoltisanti !

I saw your reply and was wondering since scannow found some issues, did it resolve your Alienware laptop randomly restarting?

Let me know if any issues arise so I can help.
