m16 R1, intermittent stuttering during any task
Alienware m16 R1 AMD
I enjoy everything about this laptop that I bought, but I have increasingly been unable to ignore this random stuttering that happens.
AMD fTPM random stuttering example
This is exactly what it looks and sounds like, and the same duration each time. I have noticed the system lag under high load, and no load at all.
Even after getting the latest bios from SupportAssist, the problem still persists. My understanding was that the fTPM problems were supposed to have been fixed for AMD. I couldn't find more info on that. Or is this possibly not fTPM related at all?
Any insight at all is greatly appreciated.

Hi @Orky welcome to this free user-to-user Alienware laptop discussion forum.
Update - AMD has finally recognized the issue and is working on releasing updates to resolve this. Read more in this recent article: https://www.tomshardware.com/news/amd...

Hey @crimsom , thank you for taking the time to respond.
So looking at the reliability monitor, I'm definitely wishing I hadn't reinstalled windows today in an attempt to get Support Assist to work properly so I could run the diagnostics, since it's showing up with a whole lot of critical events.
The only other thing I see for it is the Audio SW Server/API Library, application being used is iGoSwServer.exe. I'm not familiar with intelligo so I'll look into that.
As for safe mode, I did reboot and used it, but I didn't catch any system hangups or lagging, It's harder to tell without audio. I basically played the offline browser surf game for quite some time... maddening.
Thank you again for your time, looks like I might just have to wait if it is infact an fTPM issue, but in the meantime, I will use the reliability monitor to see if I can pinpoint anything else.

I am having the same issue and checked my bios and it is already up to date. Tried resetting everything and still isn't working.

Not sure if you're still having issues @Like43ninjas , but this appeared to be a precursor problem to my chipset fan breaking. My guess is the system was throttling itself for a second or two as my fan would not start spinning, until the fan completely stopped working and the processor began throttling itself indefinitely.
So it's possible there is a bad fan in your laptop, which, as an aside, Dell was not helpful in replacing. I had to get a third party to replace mine, though my situation was a bit unique as I'm international. Hopefully you would have better luck, if your fan is indeed going bad as well.

Mine has something to do with Dell Support Assist since after uninstalling it went away and reinstalling it came back.
