m17 R1, VPN applications will not install

This may seem very odd for the Alienware discussion, but there has been some really odd things going on with a simple VPN installation.

Ever since I noticed that this does not affect other brands of computers I wanted to see if this affected other Alienware users as well.

So here is the gist:

When I was updating the Desktop version of Nord VPN it would not update no matter how long I waited. So I forced quit the update and I tried to uninstall the Nord VPN app in settings however I could only find "Nord network TAP" and "Nord VPN network TUN". So from there I assumed I could download the app from the website and fix it from there. However, when I went through all the steps to install the app it kept staying on "preparing files for removal" (picture attached) during the installation stage and did so no matter how long I waited. I kept trying to reinstall it by forcibly stopping the installation, restarting my computer, and deleting/uninstalling any known file associated with Nord VPN and reinstalling the app from there. However it still stayed on the "preparing files for removal" stage. So then I purchased a subscription from Express VPN to test to see if this is just an error by the Nordvpn company. However, that did not work as well and the Express VPN installer kept saying "installation failed" (photo attached) I tried this method on other computers and it seemed to install the applications perfectly fine so I guess it is a corrupt/broken installer or it may have to do with Alienware. I did test to see if other apps could install and so I downloaded firefox, it installed successfully and so I came to the conclusion that VPN installations just did not work for some reason.

I wanted to know if there have been issues like this or if other users are experiencing the same thing.

Other info:
- I have the Alienware m17
- Bitdefender is installed as the anti virus (I did try to disable all the firewalls and protections when trying to install the vpns)
- Virtualbox is installed (I don't know if the files caused this or not but its up here just in case)
- I have the latest Windows 10 home update
- I did try the MicrosoftProgram_Install_and_Uninstall.meta method provided by the Nord VPN support as well with no success.




- I also used Task manager to see if anything was not enabled, but everything seemed to be enabled.

Hi

On my Ali-51m without any problems. For ages I have been using NordVPN.

I have GData IS & ESET IS (antivirus off, firewall on).

I suggest that you should try on a fresh copy of Win 10. I'm pretty sure you'll be able to install both VPN.

It must be some software conflict,perhaps with Bitdefender.

Do you use any other security software? In the future do not install Spyshelter
