m17 R3, BIOS 1.25 update breaks VMware support (Again!)

Latest BIOS manages to misplace support for VT-X/EPT again .  This is a recurrance of a very old problem.   It renders my M17 R3 useless for its intended use.

Could someone please put VT-X/EPT back - and *make sure it stays there* through future updates?

Thanks.

/ps - didn't appreciate some lout insisting that I give him $US 100 to get support for a problem that Dell created.

* Perhaps in a "future" unknown BIOS.

make sure it stays there through future updates?
* There is no way we can guarantee this.

Have you tried backing down to BIOS 1.24?

@DELL-Chris M ,

Thank you for the suggestion.  Yes, I did try a downgrade.  The install goes properly, and I can see 1.24 installed when I boot to the BIOS (using F2.  However,  on the system reboot some pre-Windows software promptly says "Please wait while we install a system update"  , and updates the BIOS to 1.26 again.  I can't find a parameter to disable that.

And as it turns out, 1.24 does not have VTX/EPT support, either. Maybe 1.23?

I'm sure you're aware that lack of VTX/EPT makes VMware Workstation unusable.  That in turn disables Cisco's CML 2 and the GNS-3 network emulators, which were my major reasons for buying a powerful and expensive laptop such as the M17 R3.

Is there really no way to just add that support back into the BIOS?

Thanks,

* That is up to the platform team, not us. All we can do is make them aware of your Post.

on the system reboot some pre-Windows software promptly says "Please wait while we install a system update".
* The Rockstars out here have described different ways to not allow Windows to install updates. I found this article =
