m17 R3, problems after repair, alien head
System:
Alienware M17 R3
Intel I7 - 8 core
32 GB RAM
1TB m2 & 500 GB m2 SSDs
Windows 10 Pro 21H1 (build 19043.1110)
Last month, I had a Dell technician replace the motherboard and other components on my Alienware laptop due to a thermal paste issue. After the repair, I have been unable to get the alien head on the LID of the laptop to light up. It was lit up immediately after the repair, but when I changed the color settings the alien head light went off and has not come back on since.

This article seems to be a little out of date as I was unable to find anything under appdata or in the registry as the article indicates. I have also checked the "go dim" and "go dark" settings, and both are not active.
I know this is just a cosmetic thing, but if anyone might accidentally know a simple fix to get this working again it would be nice.

Hi @blkdragn the visiting Dell technician is usually a contractor with little or no training to repair Dell systems. It is always advisable to have a chat with visiting contractor to determine their level of expertise. Dell provides a warranty guarantee that this contractor's work is the same as if it was undertaken by a Dell technician.
Contractor seemingly did not install the screen to motherboard cable correctly and/or broken the connector on the motherboard. The simple fix could be reseating the screen cable in its connector. If the connector is now broken, the fix is replacing the very expensive motherboard under warranty at the Dell repair center. After same fault not fixed on three separate occasions, it is Dell policy to provide a replacement, but replacement may also have faults. Try and Reject system and get full refund.
It would be prudent for you to check screen to motherboard cable/connector and take photographs as evidence of what has happened.
The Alienware FX light issues webpage that you visited is for AlienFX. Your m17 R3's Alienware Command Center Application v5.3.2.0 has AlienFX 2.0 and is not supported.

Opening up the laptop will not void the warranty?

Dell expects users to upgrade their system, the warranty will not become void.
