m17 R4, screen flickering

Question

Hey there everyone. So I have an intermittent issue sometimes when I open my M17 R4. It doesn't happen all the time, just about 5 times since I got the computer in March. I also had another problem with some pixels in the panel and they sent someone to replace it. Happened a few times before the replace and a couple times after. Everything is updated. The screen just goes nuts and looks like this.

Seems like a GPU issue and maybe Hardware?

Have you installed GeForce Experience and when installing the latest driver, Clicked the clean install button?

Also I think maybe you should RMA it if the issue still happens after the replacement and the thing I mentioned above.

So did the clean install work? If not then a screen replacement would be necessary but first connect a tv or monitor to the laptop and stress test it on the other screen. And then if it crashes then the GPU is failing.

I have performed the clean install, but have yet to see it happen. Not sure if it's gone as it's not something that happens every time I open it. It's just random. I can't make it happen as far as I can tell unless I wanted to spend a whole day opening and closing my laptop, and I'm pretty sure Dell isn't going to pay me to do that. Though that would be nice. I'll take a day off and futz with my expensive new hardware and Dell can pay me for it hehe.

I've had the same issue with my laptop. I'm sure its a issue that has not been acknowledged.

Seems like theres a lot of those with this generation. Im debating sending back my THIRD laptop due to issues.

Hello i have the same issue, I noticed that this happen when I close the screen and laptop go on sleep mode. Also my Alienware head doesn’t light up even when I turn on in fx. Reinstalled os three times but doesn’t work.

I really feel that I think Alienware command center is the issue here. You can’t enable or change the color?

Actually head light was disabled by default. When i enabled in FX, light doesnt turn on even if i change color, all other lights work except head one. I reinstalled everything FX, command center, also reinstalled windows.

I am having the exact same flickering issue.

Alienware M17 R4, RTX 3070, 16 GB Ram, windows 11.

Mine is more frequent, hasn't been a month and happened more than 5 times so far.

I am in contact with Dell Tech Support, and they don't seem to know what is causing it.

I have tried updating drivers, reinstalling windows, reinstalling windows again from a usb drive, and I still had the issue occur.

Did you do anything else outside this forum that resolved this for you?
