supportassist will not load after windows 10 1809 update

After updating my Alienware 17 R4 with Windows 10 Pro to Windows 10 1809, I wanted to run SupportAssist, but all I got was the start screen greyed out and thinking for 10 minutes. It allowed me to close the program and then I tried again but with the same result. I am going to try removing then reinstalling the program next. Will update with another post with results good or bad.
