The key y not working on my keyboard
I have recently encountered a very annoying problem on my Alienware computer, where my key on the keyboard is not working. Initiall I just needed to pres ver hard to get the y but now it is not working at all. Fortunatel trhe key is not used much in m native danish language, but having to copy/paste the letter is not ideal. I have run a full diagnostic on my computer today, which reveaed no errors, so I expect that it is a hardware error, and in that case, I don't know how easy it is to fix, as disassembling the computer is quite difficult. An suggestions on what I should do next? (my computer is 2½ year old with no warrenty left)

I finall discovered the source of my slow computer. The AC adapter was the villain. I had received warnings about the adapter but ignored it, but in another thread, someone had this problem. When replacing it with m old adapter the performance index rose from 3.7 to 6.6. So now I only need to figure out the missing y.

Hi @christian forslund
System model and revision?
You can try an external keyboard, if the letter works on it, it means it is a hardware issue and unfortunately the keyboard must be replaced.

try formatting the system and uploading again if there are certain software reason to this issue , it would be resolved. Also this fake email sender guide is useful. You may refer it. Regards.

I know it's a long time since, I asked this question, but I still have my problem and I can't keep ignoring it.
I borrowed a keyboard from work and tested, and as expected my computer worked with an external keyboard, so it seems like it's the actual keyboard, that is the problem.
I tried the Alienware diagnostics, which said, the keboard should be replaced, there were no replacement part and the garanty had ended, so that was pretty disappointing.
So it seems like I need to fix it myself, but could it be possible, that it is just some small thing like a loose cable or something, or is it ceratin, that I need to replace the keyboard. I saw a video on how to dissasemble the computer, and I did it with my old Alienware, but it is complex, so I wouldn't want to do it more than once.

Yes, it could also be related to the KB cable. You can check it yourself or take it to a local repair shop for them to look at it.
Also, you can always call our out of warranty department at 866 287 6727 opt#4 for more information.

My Alienware laptop isn't really that old, just 2½ year, but I have had some problems with it before with the graphics card and the sound failing a few times and other diagnostic issues, so I wonder if I should throw money at solving this issue, since it appears, the the warranty has ended. Is it possible to have a Alienware technician to look at it.
I did disassemble m old Alienware (to clean up the fan for the graphics card) and managed to put it together again, so I could try it and hope that I can assemble it again, but then it would be nice to know if I can repair it, or I need a new keyboard.
Besides that issue, I have also just found another problem with m computer. That is, it has become very slow. (Chris PC performence index has the desktop graphics at 3.7, while everything else has at least 8.2) which I thought could mean that the high end graphics card Nvidia GTX970m isn't really working. The performance monitor shows no problems, I haven't found any solutions to this online. (I know this issue is not related to the y problem).
