Hi @hydrotx we went to the Alienware Battery & Adapter Selector and there are no Dell replacement Lithium-ion batteries. Then went to the Dell Notebook Battery Warranty Support and this explains how the Battery Warranty Replacement process works (one year Standard, three year Optional), not to be confused with a perception that an individual consumable battery has a life warranty.
On a general note: high energy density Lithium-ion batteries are a passing inconvenience, to be tolerated while consumers wait for the next generation battery (power cell...?) to make an appearance, and more efficient CPUs, etc. that are eventually specifically designed for very thin and low temperature laptops.

Interestingly enough, when I asked them where I could PURCHASE a replacement battery, they told me I had to contact (and I quote) “In order to resolve your inquiry we have a specialized department for out of scope support, you can reach out to our Out of Process Department (this is a fee based support) at xxxxxxxxx”
ot yet, Dell Rep was adament it was 90 days only, this will be the third battery when changed, plus the original Originally purchased march 2016, conclusion, Dell Battreies are RUBBISH!
Further to that Dell hasn't any New batteries for my Laptop, & Tech told me the replacements were Re-Furbs, that applied to the previous replacement, which was news to me.
Prior to the Alienware I had a Sony, original battery was still going, albeit with a reduced capacity after 4 years!

5. Repair or Replacement – Dell Product Warranty
5.1 You have statutory rights in relation to the Products sold to you. For example, Products sold to you shall be of satisfactory quality and conform to
their Product Description. Those rights are not affected by this Dell Product warranty.
5.2 Dell warrants that Dell Product shall: (i) conform to its Product Description, (ii) be free from material defects for a period of one year from date of
delivery, and (iii) that Dell branded spare parts shall be free from defects for 90 days from the date of delivery or for the remainder of the applicable
Services (Basic Warranty) or statutory warranty period, if longer.
5.3 Under the Basic Warranty, subject to clauses 5.3.1 – 5.3.4 inclusive and clause 5.4 below, Dell shall repair or replace the Dell Product if it develops a
material fault in the period of one year from date of delivery, on condition that:
5.3.1 the Dell Product has only been subject to normal use in a domestic, non commercial, non research environment in a manner which is consistent
with the specification, functionality and service standards described in the Dell Product Description,
5.3.2 reasonable care has been taken of the Dell Product, and it has only been subjected to reasonable wear and tear;
5.3.2 the fault has not been caused or contributed to by willfully or negligently caused damage, or any accident, or being in environmental conditions
harmful to the Dell Product, or by third party software or hardware, which has not been supplied by Dell, loaded onto or connected to the Dell
Product;
5.3.4 the part which develops the fault has not been previously modified or repaired by any third party.
5.4 Dell’s obligation to repair or replace under clause 5.3 above does not apply to:
5.4.1 consumable components (for example, toner in printer cartridges);
5.4.2 parts which are not critical to Product function, or
5.4.3 cosmetic features of the Product.
5.5 In relation to many Dell Products, you can purchase extended warranties from Dell which last beyond the Basic Warranty term. However, these
are not available in respect of Notebook batteries (which have a maximum one-year warranty unless a shorter period is stated in any applicable Basic
Warranty or Product Description.
5.6 Dell will repair Dell Product using parts which are new, or equivalent to new in accordance with industry standards and practice, and which will
work for at least the remainder of the Basic Warranty period
In the old days, Dell would have given you a brand new battery for free with hardly any questions to be answers, now it's a different time, Dell goes a different way in handling battery replacement for customer with warranty. I'm hoping Dell will resolved this issue with the battery to your satisfaction. If Dell doesn't resolved it then I suggest you file an report in the link below.
The first battery I had replaced lasted about 13 months, then I was met with the catastrophic battery message when it totally failed, I contacted Dell, who in all fairness gave me a discount on the next battery replacement, this was because it had failed just outside of the 12 months warranty period
Now I'm told the warranty is 90 days
Previously I was told it wasn't a user replacement part & so had to have a Tech fit it in my home, my recent contact told me I could simply order the battery, when they are only lasting a year it's not an insubstantial sum, to have it fitted.

To facilitate the speedy repair of my laptop, I bought a battery, (had to parcel up the old battery for collection the following day, with a note saying if the battery wasn't available for collection there may be a charge to me for a new replacement) This is my first Dell product, needless to say it will be my last.
I will be sending in an unresolved issue query, will post if/when new information is available.
The battery I fitted in Feb 2020 has now failed, below is part of Dell support response email>>
"We are sorry to hear that you are facing issues with the battery. Unfortunately, we do not have the battery part in stock for this system model. The system has reached the End of its usable life"
This 17R3 was purchased new in Feb 2016, including the original supplied battery, that's 4 batteries that have totally failed from then until now, less than 5 years, the only conclusion I can draw from my experience is that Dell batteries are absolute Rubbish and not fit for purpose, this now leaves me to tear down the battery pack and replace the cells.
As a footnote, despite this being a gaming laptop, it has never had a game played on it, it's only been use for surfing, documents reading.

Ordered a new (refurbished) battery in the meantime, & contacted another Dell rep with a query.
