x17 R1, keyboard and Touchpad stopped working?
My keyboard and Touchpad suddenly stopped working during use. Now the only keys that respond are F1, Windows Lock, and Mute Mic?
I suspect I accidentally locked the keyboard some how, but now that it's locked whatever shortcut to disable the lock is not recognized. Troubleshooting is difficult due to not being able to use the keyboard, nor can I use the prompt to bring up the onscreen keyboard except with the shortcut on the login page.
How do I fix this?
Edit:
I have attempted restarted, shutting down, updating keyboard driver, made sure filter keys was not enabled, using the onsite bot chat assistant, cannot enter BIOS mode, troubleshooting options does nothing, and SupportAssist just tells me to buy a new keyboard without it checking anything.
Edit 2:
I found a notification saying that my touchpad has been disabled, so this is 100% an accidental keyboard/ Touchpad lock. Still not sure how to unlock it though.
Edit 3:
Hitting F12 re-enabled the Touchpad, but the keyboard remains locked.

The only way I know to disable the internal keyboard is through Device Manager but this can't be done accidentally.
Could you let us know what laptop model you have? This could help us diagnose how it happened. Hopefully it's not a hardware failure.

Thanks for the reply. The model I have is Alienware x17 R1. I can provide a service tag as well if needed.

I did some digging around on the forum and seen others were having a similar issue. I tried the workaround they discovered, but that did not work. I do see an unknown driver like they describe however.
I ended up filing a service request. Apparently I've still got a bit of warranty left, so I might as well give that a shot since I've already had another oddity with the screen becoming fuzzy after a month or so of use.
If they find a solution I'll post it here for anyone else who encounters this.

Did you ever find a solution for the unknown driver? This issue has been plaguing me for months. Thanks in advance.

Keyboard Intermittently Does Not Work on the Alienware m15 R5 Ryzen, R6, x15, and x17 Laptops
Updating to the latest keyboard firmware for your computer helps resolve the issue.
