x17 R1, screen glitching even in the bios

Alienware x17 R1

Alienware x17 R1

Hello guys, first time here.
I’ve been using Alienware for the last 3 years from the M17 r3 to my recent upgrade to the x17 R1.
Not so long into using the x17, I haven’t had any proper luck. My screen glitches like real bad. I may be doing a simple task of watching a movie and my screen will glitch and turn black, sometimes I even get BSOD, and lest I forget, it even glitches into my bios if I try to go the bios and make any changes.

I’ve tried updating to the latest version of Nvidia graphics drivers but still the problem persists. It’s actually driving me insane. I have attached images of the glitch. I would be very very glad if anyone can help me out. It will mean a lot to me if anyone can actually help me out.

Alright. Thank you so much. I will try the external monitor and get you the feedback, and the safe mode I will give it a shot. Because the glitches just randomly just happens. But it’s really great having someone respond to me.
I really appreciate that.
I will keep you updated on whatever happens from here.

@mattyb3

Thanks. The glitching got worse this evening, it won’t even allow me to even boot the system successfully. I mean I can even get past the Alienware loading screen. A friend of mine suggested taking the RAM, SSD and unplugging the battery. I did just that and it seemed to somewhat fixed the problem but I will definitely install a clean windows 10 in the morning just to rule out windows file corruption.
And lest I forget, is there anyway to run diagnostics to see if you have a defective hardware component?

@Iambagylbac  Can you try to boot in Safe Mode and see if the problem is still there? If it goes away then there's a good chance that it's a driver or possibly Windows issue. There's always a chance that you have a major hardware issue though. If it's intermittent then hopefully that's not the problem.

I would do a clean Windows installation to rule out Windows file corruption but this means losing all your data on your C: drive you you'll need to back up any important data. If it's happening in the BIOS then it's unlikely due to Windows but you never know.

Yes you can run the ePSA diagnostic. Tap F12 during startup to get into the Boot Menu. You can select the diagnostic from there and it will run though all of your hardware. It doesn't always pick up errors but it's a good start.

Have you tried using an external monitor to rule out the display as being the issue?

If you want to boot into Safe Mode you can tap F8 and you should get into the hidden Advanced Menu and you can select Safe Mode from there.

The purchased 15 month retail warranty expired May 18, 2023. Does the LCD BIST (Built-in Self-Test) run? If yes, does it pass or fail?

Hello, yeah the test was successful, I even run the SupportAssist | On-board Diagnostics and it was clean. No problems were detected.
I reinstalled a fresh copy of Windows but yet still the glitch is still there. The laptop will just freeze up and the glitch appears, the screen goes blank and the temps go up.
