Avamar agent installation

Hi,

Have a question related to Avamar agent installation where we are manually installing Avamar agent sand configuring backups on the workstations which is consuming a lot of manual hours.

So, can someone suggest if there is any automated process where we can configure Avamar clients in bulk at once. Thank you

Per the Avamar 7.1 Administration Guide, remote installation is supported via Microsoft tools such as SMS and SCCM and other third-party tools.  The Admin guide also lists the proper MSIEXEC sequence for a remote installation.

Let us know if that helps!

Hi Karl/Hatem,

thanks for your response. can you please share some more information about client manager like when we add clients, where do these clients appear. Is there a way to manage policy management through client manager.

Here is how I do it (Group Policy Not required):

- Put the client on a share the you can access from the network (the computer you want to setup the client on needs to access it,

- Download psexec (From PsExec)

-Make a cmd file that looks like this:

psexec @servers.txt -s cmd /c "msiexec /qb /I "\\ \avinstall\AvamarClient-windows-x86_64-7.2.101-32.msi" SERVER=" " DOMAIN=" ""

pause

(Pause is only there so it does not close the cmd window when done.

- Create a files called "Servers.txt" with a list (1 per line) of the DNS names of the computers you want to install the client on.

This will install and register all the servers in "Servers.txt" to whatever domain you specify on your avamar server.

This will activate the clients during the setup, no clients need to be touched.

There's much more information in the Avamar Administration Guide.  Basically, the Client Manager runs from the Avamar Enterprise Manager.  Login to the Avamar web interface and click Client Manager.

From here, you can see your installed/activated clients, Avamar Plugin versions and so forth.  You can also select clients and upgrade their plugins from one version of Avamar to the next.

You can perform some policy management, such as adding/removing members from groups, creating new groups and so on.

Let us know if that helps!
