Avamar Backup issues
Dear Sir,
I am new to Avamar, and having issues when backups are not being done, and most of times I am not able to find the exact cause and how to troubleshoot. For example, if I run the failure activity report, I get among the following code summary:
1. Activity failed - client initiated backup for this plugin is disabled
2. Activity Failed - Client Not Registered.
3. Activity failed - client was given a workorder but did not acknowledge its receipt.
4. Dropped Session - No progress reported.
5. Activity failed - client has no data specified by dataset
6. Activity failed - timed out before starting.
Kindly, if time permits, give me summary of the issues and the process to prevent/manage.

Hello,
All issues which you have listed here looks very general and can be resolved by just doing correct client & backup configuration.
I would suggest you to please go through Avamar administration guide and follow the instructions to configure backup for a client. If you face any difficulty to understand any section of guide, please let us know. I hope you are aware that you can search resolution for most of the errors on EMC support, if not please use following link to search resolution for your issues -

the client tried to initiate a backup, but the option is disabled for the client
2. Activity Failed - Client Not Registered.
a backup was attempted for the client, but it is not yet registered
3. Activity failed - client was given a workorder but did not acknowledge its receipt.
a backup job was sent to the client, but it never responded
4. Dropped Session - No progress reported.
a backup was started and something happened to just kill the backup
5. Activity failed - client has no data specified by dataset
a backup was started looking for the items in the dataset to backup, but they do not exist on the client
6. Activity failed - timed out before starting.
the job never got started before the window closed
All pretty self expletory - as stated above - if you don't understand look the error up on emc support (or the web) for more detailed answers and troubleshooting.

Hello J.H,
we have an plugin issue with Avamar Administrator for particular windows 2012 client.
" no pliugin's available for this client #####"
Please suggest me : how to resolve the issue?
Client Version : 7.0.101-61
Administrator Version : 7.0.2-47
Troubleshooting :
we have reactivated the client once again in client side also started backup agent as well.
but still we are getting the plugin issue.

1) this should be a new question not just an add on to someone elses question
2) I am just an end user - do not ask me directly for answers but ask the entire forum - that's what it is for.
3) what kind of backup are you trying to do? Windows, sql, VSS .....

we are taking Windows 2003,2008,2012 - Files system ,VSS and System state
Backup.

ok my first thought is that you are trying to do a 2003 backup for a 2012
2003 is different than an 2008 or 2012
so the question is what is in your dataset -
tools/dataset
find the one being used for this server
what is in the Source Data section?
is it all 2012's or just this one 2012?
is it using the same dataset as other 2012s and do the others work?

Issue resolved by EMC.I will share some more iformation.
NO plugin issue and VSS for 2003 and 2008 clients.
