Avamar services/processes running on Utility node and Data Nodes
Can someone give a one line description of important Avamar services/processes running on Utility node and Data Nodes.

Hello,
The Avamar service GSAN runs on the data nodes (for multi-node grids) and single nodes, other services only run on utility node such as mcs, ems, dtlt, backup scheduler, maintenance scheduler.
On the ssh session to the utility node, you can run this command to list all the Avamar services : dpnctl status

Can you tell me what does GSAN do ? And also give me one line description of other services.

GSAN service runs on storage nodes and is used for striping data across nodes in a milti-node environment or RAIN architecture
MCS is the Management Console Server used to create your backup schedules, restores etc
EMS is Enterprise Management Server which also has a built in web server for managing multiple Avamar servers
