Avamar VMware image backup fails with 0 byte vmx file
I have a few virtual machines that cancel their backups when they detect a 0 byte vmx file. The backup starts OK, the snapshot gets created, and the metadata backup is started. For some reason, the vmx file is being detected as 0 bytes (it's not), and the backup cancelled. Any ideas?

Yes 5.0.3.29 is 5.0 SP3 and is compatible with vCenter 4.1

What is the version of vCenter, ESX , avamar GRID and proxy server ? Can you post all this info. There was a VMWare bug in vCenter 4.0 which was fixed in vCenter 4.0 Update 2 which is supported with avamar GRID SP2 and later.
Thanks and Regards,

OK, that's the issue. We're running 4.0. We'll update to 4.1 over the holidays.

Please note vCenter 4.1 requires your GRID to be updated to 5.0 SP3 so ensure you do that before upgrading vCenter and ESX to 4.1. This is because vCenter 4.1 is supported only in 5.0 SP3
