Avamar with Data Domain and SQL 2000

Is any one backing up SQL 2000 to a Avamar and Data Domain platfrom

The system is

Avamar 6.0

Data Domain 5.1

SQL 2000 using 4.1 plugin

Haven't deployed this, but just thinking about it, not sure that it will work........

We tested a SQL 2005 server (backup now), which was on 5.1 pluging, and the option to write to the DD was not avaliable. After the plugin was upgrade to 6.0 it was.

Now, 6.0 plugin is not supported for SQL2000.........

Thanks

Mike

Thanks for the reply, yes we could.....

I forgot to mention that I want Avamar to be the singular management platfrom for all backups and control extended retention.....

Thanks

Mike

You could write the SQL backup direct to a CIFS share from the Data Domain rather than using Avamar as an intermediary....

(assuming the Avamar Server is the correct version, of course)

Unfortunately you will not be able to back up SQL 2000 systems to the Data Domain back-end. The functionality for sending the data stream to the DDR is implemented on the client side and there is no version that supports both SQL 2000 and backup to DDR.

Any backups stored on the Avamar Server can be sent to tape using extended retention.
